Blackstone Academy Charter School Game-Based Learning in English Class: A Podcast
Download ResourceTopics
We’ve all had the experience of truly purposeful, authentic learning and know how valuable it is. Educators are taking the best of what we know about learning, student support, effective instruction, and interpersonal skill-building to completely reimagine schools so that students experience that kind of purposeful learning all day, every day.
The academic model at Blackstone Academy Charter School in Rhode Island focuses not only on what students learn but also on who they are and how they act in the world. In this 5-minute podcast, English teacher Erin Malcolm explains how she uses game-based learning in class, including when the students read The Great Gatsby. This podcast was prepared to support a virtual Learning Excursion for school teams of diverse stakeholders to learn more about Blackstone Academy and become inspired to redesign their own high schools.
